Awards

Awarded to the student who shows proficiency in all aspects of broadcasting. Everything from DJ-ing on the radio, broadcasting sports, and reporting news are examples of what is looked for when the winner is being chosen.

Students who submit at least one entry in each of these three groups will be eligible:

• Best DJ, Best Talk Show, or Best Specialty Music Program

• Best Newscast, Best News Feature, or Best Public Affairs Program

• Best Sportscast, Best Sportstalk Program, or Best Sports Play-By-Play

Award to the student (or students) with the best coverage on sports. Short talkshows, general discussions are often times what is considered.

From the sidelines to the upper deck, we want the best in sports coverage and analysis.

A mutli-day competition that challenged students ability to improvise and create content in short amounts of time. Students were given a time limit (Just 15 minutes in the tournament) to write a 45 second breaking news recap on a topic as if it just had happened. After the time limit was up they had to perform it. In the playoffs if they fell below 44 seconds or above 46 seconds they were disqualified. The winner was chosen based on tone, timing, delivery, and diction.

Awarded to the student who best displayed the ability to report on various different topics surrounding the news.

Hard-hitting reporting, community coverage, and a kicker. How do you report the news?

Awarded to student who best showcase their talents talking in and out of breaks of music or other programming. Highlight your interview skills and hosting capabilities. Best DJ can be a team (two or more people) so long as the focus of the entry is on hosts’ interactions.

Awarded to student who can best give a recap analysis on sports of their chosing. Could be game analysis, interviews, or a postgame broadcast.
